Imagining better
An energy company located in Calgary, Alberta approached PCC Integrate with one main challenge—finding simpler and more comprehensive technology. They were seeking a solution that was easy to use to ensure they could keep their tech support team costs lowered. The Manager of IT explained that his previous tech set-up was “archaic” and that “Every time someone had a meeting, they had to call someone from [his] team to come and assist them to get things to work.”
Better connections
When it came time to select their cabling solution, this company saw it as a simple decision. The Manager of IT reported that “The PCC cabling solution is no doubt, far and away the superior system. And to me, it’s a no-brainer. Why anyone would do a traditional cabling system today is beyond me; knowing this is out there.”
Before this company became familiar with PCC Integrate’s audiovisual solutions, they were leaning towards working with a competitor. After learning more about PCC products and the way in which PCC can design and integrate the entire system, the customer was sold.
PCC worked on this project from the design stage, through procurement, installation, and support. This project included a comprehensive roster of PCC’s integrated audiovisual solutions, including a video wall, meeting room, and bistro installations. The modular cabling system included 636 Cat6 outlets plus 12 fibre strands, spread across 3 floors and almost 75,000 square feet.
Better outcomes
Although PCC Integrate’s technology was a little different from what the client was used to, it met all the same requirements that they were initially looking for from a traditional audiovisual or cabling vendor. The client expressed their satisfaction with the fact that PCC could integrate their system with everything that they had already designed and implemented themselves—keeping the final product true to the client vision.
When asked how the PCC Integrate system has changed or helped business outcomes, the client indicated there were two main factors: the system works, and the system is easy to use.
“We have visitors come into our office from 3rd party companies and they’re blown away. Even technology companies come in here and can’t believe the technology we have. They’re amazed at how well it works and how easy it is to use. Everyone thinks it’s just state-of-the-art. No one has seen anything better.”
Better future
From a support perspective, the client finds the PCC Integrate system less expensive to maintain.
“I don’t think that I am going to have to upgrade this system for many, many years. People think of this [system] as state-of-the-art. Futuristic, practically. So, my impression is that I should be able to work with this equipment for many years in this space, without having to put any further investment into it.”
This company immediately saw potential to use the PCC Integrate system as the standard model for future office locations; indicating that with budget approval, they will certainly be replicating this model.
When it comes to editing their current space—they’re prepared for that as well. With a small renovation upcoming, the PCC Integrate system is going to allow for minimal disruption. The company went on to explain that “There are always renovations. The fact that we’ve put in this cabling system makes those renovations easy. It makes it a lot easier than if we had put in the alternative. It’s already paying dividends.”
The client further explained that “The area we’re renovating is on the opposite side of the building from where the riser room is. So [with a traditional system] we would be taking panels all the way down the halls, and it would happen after hours. We’ll be able to do it in the middle of the day, with little impact. In fact, only 1 or 2 people will be impacted.”
